Handheld Backscatter X-ray scanner VBXC-9000

    In current security screening and explosive ordnance disposal operations, X-ray detection has become the primary method for identifying suspicious objects. However, traditional X-ray detection typically requires the placement of an X-ray source and a detector at both ends of the object being inspected, which can be complex and is limited to examining objects on the ground. It cannot effectively detect objects positioned near walls or suspended in the air. Additionally, X-ray transmission detection is not very sensitive to low-density organic materials (such as explosives and drugs).
Therefore, single-sided imaging backscatter technology has become an important solution for addressing these issues. With our company's strong research and development capabilities in the field of X-ray products, we have independently developed a handheld backscatter inspection device, which holds relevant invention patents. This device enables single-sided inspection with image quality that meets international standards. It can effectively examine areas that are challenging for conventional X-ray machines to inspect, such as objects positioned near walls, furniture, walls, automobile doors, and tires, among others.

A.The device features

1. Utilizing advanced backscatter imaging technology:

Backscatter technology refers to the use of low-energy X-rays to irradiate a specific point on the object being inspected, with a detector collecting the scattered X-rays to gather information about that point. X-ray machines achieve this by employing a point scanning system, allowing the X-ray projection point to scan the entire object, thereby obtaining an image of the entire object.

Backscatter detection, with the X-ray machine and detector positioned on the same side, offers a compact and convenient device structure. It allows for the inspection of objects positioned near walls or those with greater thickness, thereby addressing the limitations of conventional X-ray transmission detection.

2.High integration, easy operation, and can be operated by a single person:

The device features an integrated design for detection and control components. The control part consists of an 8-inch tablet computer. When in use, the software's image capture function is activated. Users simply point the handheld device at the object to be inspected, grip the handles with both hands, and press the capture button on the handle to start the operation.

It features dual laser positioning functionality for quick and easy scan location determination.

All inspection tasks can be accomplished by a single person. The display screen can also be detached and used separately as a control tablet computer.

During operation, the operator can view the internal structure images of the instrument's target area on the tablet computer. By scanning the desired area with the handheld device, real-time scan images can be instantly observed. This allows for object detection in any direction and angle, with no blind spots or dead zones in the inspection process.

3.The image quality is excellent, making it easy to distinguish between organic and inorganic materials.

Due to the characteristics of X-ray scattering, backscatter technology is inherently sensitive to organic materials such as explosives and drugs, allowing for a clear distinction between organic and inorganic substances. While our company leverages this advantage, we have also optimized the device structure, ensuring that the image quality reaches a world-class level while maintaining a compact device size. The device is capable of discerning a 0.32mm metal wire and exhibits excellent noise control.

The image quality is significantly superior to similar foreign products, with a signal-to-noise ratio more than 100 times higher than comparable foreign products. Here is a side-by-side comparison of actual images:

4.Large detection area, superior performance, and excellent craftsmanship.

The device has a large detection area, with a 160mm wide field of view in the length direction when the distance from the object is 5cm. There is no distance limitation, and the scanning speed can reach up to 300cm/s. If the device is moved further away from the inspected item, the detection area can be further expanded. The total weight of the device is approximately 5.8kg, making it convenient to hold. It features a robust ABS engineering plastic housing, ensuring a sturdy structure and excellent craftsmanship.

5.Low radiation dose and long battery life:

Utilizing a low-energy X-ray machine with an extremely narrow X-ray coverage area at the scanning point, the radiation dose is exceedingly low, only slightly higher than the background environmental radiation. This makes it suitable for prolonged handheld use.

B. The primary use of the device is:

1.Household safety inspection:

It can be used to inspect the walls, tables, chairs, and furniture in a house to scan for the presence of hidden compartments and concealed eavesdropping devices.

2.Temporary security checkpoint inspection:

Lightweight and portable, it can be used at temporary security checkpoints to inspect bags, vehicle tires, car seats, compartments, loose cargo, or packaged wooden crates to check for the presence of prohibited or dangerous items.

3.Suspected explosive devices::

It can be used to scan suspicious items positioned in wall corners, near walls, or suspended in the air without the need to move the items.

4.Inspection of large mail parcels:

For large mail parcels, it can be inspected directly on the mail sorting line without the need to move the items, and there are no thickness limitations.

5. Site security inspection:

In addition to inspecting luggage and bags, it can also be used to inspect suspicious areas on the human body, such as the soles of shoes and other hard-to-reach areas.

C. Performance parameters:

1. Utilizes backscatter detection, capable of detecting suspicious parcels, walls, furniture, car tires, and vehicle interior spaces. Single-sided detection imaging does not require the placement of any imaging devices behind the object being inspected.

2. The product has proprietary intellectual property rights and holds a national invention patent for the handheld backscatter imaging device.

3. It features an integrated body design with an 8-inch tablet computer as the image display and processing terminal. The display screen can be detached and used separately as a control tablet computer. The tablet is mounted on the back of the backscatter main unit, allowing a single operator to simultaneously view real-time images during device scanning and directly interact with the images.

4. Equipped with dual laser positioning for quick and convenient scan position determination.

5. Software: Full Chinese user interface with image management grouped by date. It offers image enhancement, window width/level adjustment, zoom, image import/export, inversion, smoothing, stitching, pseudo-color enhancement, and marking and calibration functions. It provides 11 different pseudo-color settings.

6. No preheating is required upon startup. It supports one-button operation, where scanning begins immediately upon pressing the detection button and stops upon releasing the button.

7. Image resolution: Capable of discerning a 0.32mm metal wire, as evidenced by actual images of a 0.32mm metal wire on a plastic board, which is visible to the naked eye in the image.

8. Penetration capability: Capable of distinguishing organic glass or soap behind a 2mm steel plate.

9. Detection area: When the device is 50mm away from the object, the detection width is not less than 160mm, with no limitation in the length direction.

10. Detection speed: 300mm/second, with real-time image capture during scanning.

11. Power supply: Powered by a lithium battery, with a battery life of over 4 hours.

12. Device weight: 5.8kg (excluding the battery).
